1) Foundation: one domain, clean index, no clutter

Pick a single canonical domain (www or root), set it primary in Hosting, and force HTTPS. Remove template demo pages you don’t need, and keep only pages that support your structure. If you must hide staging or duplicate content, do it intentionally via robots.txt—not broadly.
Useful primers from Webflow University:

2) Page-level SEO that scales (static & CMS)

Open Pages → Page settings → SEO and give every important page a unique title (≤60 chars) and compelling meta description (≤160).
For CMS items, add fields (SEO Title, Meta Description, OG Image) to each Collection and bind them so every new post ships with proper meta by default.

Open Graph (social shares). For each page, set OG title/description + a 1200×630 image so links look great on LinkedIn/X.

3) Information architecture Google understands

Use a hub → spokes structure:

  • Hub page (e.g., /webflow-seo/): overview, glossary, and links to deep dives.
  • Spokes: focused posts like Webflow CMS SEO, Core Web Vitals on Webflow, Webflow 301 Redirects, Schema for Webflow.
Each spoke links back to the hub and laterally to 1–2 related spokes. Add contextual links between services/case studies and relevant posts to bridge learning → buying.

Example links to replace: [YOUR-SEO-LINK], [YOUR-CASE-STUDY-LINK], [YOUR-PORTFOLIO-LINK]

4) Performance & Core Web Vitals (Webflow-specific wins)

  • Right-size images; prefer WebP/AVIF. Avoid 3000–4000px hero assets unless truly needed.
  • Lazy-load below-the-fold images/videos.
  • Limit fonts (≤2 families / ≤6 weights); keep interactions/Lotties purposeful.
  • Minify CSS/JS and defer non-critical scripts in Hosting.
  • Monitor LCP, CLS, INP with PageSpeed Insights and GSC Core Web Vitals.

5) Sitemap, robots, and redirects (keep signals intact)

Enable Auto-generate sitemap (Site settings → SEO) and submit /sitemap.xml in Google Search Console.

If migrating, protect equity: map old URLs to their closest new equivalents via 301 redirects (Site settings → Publishing → 301 redirects).

6) Verify, measure, iterate

Verify your domain in Google Search Console, publish, then Inspect URL → Request indexing for key pages. Connect GA4 (direct or via GTM) to see how users engage and where to improve.

Watch GSC → Performance for pages sitting in positions 8–20—those need stronger internal links, clearer on-page intent, or better examples.

7) Content that wins (a repeatable format)

Match search intent with clarity and structure:

  1. H1 uses the exact topic + outcome (e.g., “Webflow SEO Best Practices: A Step-by-Step Setup”).
  2. Short intro: problem → promise → who this is for.
  3. Numbered steps with mini checklists.
  4. One real example / before-after (speed, structure, traffic).
  5. FAQ answering People-Also-Ask variations.
  6. Internal links: hub + 1–2 spokes + a relevant service/case study.

Add a soft CTA where it makes sense:

8) Quick launch checklist (use on every new page)

  • One H1, scannable H2/H3s, unique title/meta
  • OG title/description + 1200×630 image
  • Images compressed; below-the-fold media lazy-loaded
  • Sitemap enabled; submit page in GSC
  • If migrated, 301s added & tested
  • Add 3–5 smart internal links (hub/spokes/service/case study)

Wrap-up

A beautiful Webflow template gives you speed; a disciplined setup gives you rankings. Lock in the foundations once, scale page-level SEO via CMS, keep pages light, and connect your topics with smart internal links. Then iterate quarterly.
